Helping Those Who Need It Most
AKIM PROJECTS turn vision into reality. They reach out a helping
hand to people with intellectual disabilities and significantly
improve their quality of life through specific, tailor-made programs
that respond directly to their multi-faceted needs and engage them
in interactive programs which make a real difference to their lives.
AKIM is the largest provider of services for people with intellectual
disabilities in Israel, a community which numbers about 30.000 infants,
children, teenagers, adults, and senior citizens. It is important
to remember that their plight affects at least 120.000 family members
who are also in need of support. AKIM has extensive experience and
professional expertise in the area of comprehensive care for people
with intellectual disabilities and is exceptionally dedicated to
helping those who need it most.
AKIM professionals provide individualized, focused support and are
committed to continually care of people with intellectual disabilities.
Using this strategy, AKIM professionals develop and introduce new
programs and activities that further enhance the quality of life
of those in their care. Each program has a specific goal, target
group and planned activity or mode of operation while a specialized
AKIM department is responsible for the project's implementation
and budgeting.
AKIM projects are enriching and rewarding and provide a comprehensive
alternative to traditional approaches of working with people with
intellectual disabilities. AKIM is committed to expanding the horizons
of care services for people with intellectual disabilities. And
is not satisfied with simply maintaining existing routines. AKIM
projects make a vital difference in the day life of people with
intellectual disabilities and provide the kind of quality care in
which their lives can flourish and develop.
AKIM's existing recourses, most of which come from donations, are
limited and they are regrettably unable to fund most of these programs.
Funding from Israeli public sources is also very limited, due to
the numerous demands on their resources, forcing AKIM to look further
field to fund these crucial and innovative projects.
In light of this situation, AKIM has prepared this catalogue of
projects in which each specific program presented is ready for implementation.
Each program represents an excellent donor opportunity to help AKIM
carry out its vitally important mission.
By supporting an AKIM PROJECT, the donor is assured that his or
her gift will go precisely towards the purpose outlined herein and
will be able to follow the program's progress through reports and
photos received from Israel. Donating to AKIM supports people with
intellectual disabilities in Israel and is targeted at giving its
best and most effective services. Please help us enrich their lives.
